10/27/2016 0 Comments artists' take a stand I did my Artists' Take a Stand project on the subject of pollution. I want people to know that when they litter, or smoke, or anything else, they are polluting and harming their home greatly. People need to stop and think before they dump their coke out the window, or throw their cigar on the ground. They are hurting their home and making it worse and worse each day. This needs to stop. That's why I made this for my Artists' Take a Stand project. I am going to hang this somewhere where it might make a difference.

How I did this was I shaded darker and harder around the edges and lighter towards the center of the brushes. This made the brushes more 3D-like. I also made a small shadow on the right of the brushes, this also made it look more realistic. Before drawing these paintbrushes, I sketched things out, used different shading techniques, etc., just so I would be ready to draw the actual paintbrushes for my final drawing. Practicing different techniques before starting the final piece helped me to make the final piece the best it could be. I learned a lot about drawing during this project. This is a picture of a clay tile I made. I made this piece by first planning out what I was going to do by sketching. After I knew how I was going to make this, I took a slab of clay and a little extra clay, and formed the shapes of these 3D flowers on to the slab shown on the left. After I was pleased with it, it was fired in the kiln, and after a few days, it was ready to be painted on. As you can see, I used many different shades of acrylic paint, blues, yellows, pinks, purples, etc. The faded yellow background I feel makes the flowers pop out more, which is what I wanted to happen. Anyways, I really enjoyed this project, and had lots of fun doing it. To the right is a painting that I did of a sunset over water using acrylic paint. I had to use many different blending techniques, especially when I had to blend the blue and the orange. Something that made this project easier was the fact that I had a picture of the thing I was painting - a picture I had taken of a sunset while I was on a cruise this past summer. I think the clouds were the hardest part for me. Getting them to look realistic was challenging, but I used what I had learned about painting and made the clouds look as best as I could get them. This project taught me a lot about painting, and things that I will be able to use in the future. |
